You're never short of an après spot in Les 2 Alpes! With its two kilometre strip of bars within staggering distance of one another, the resort is an alpine reveller’s dream. Affordable accommodation combined with a great selection of pubs and clubs has established the resort as a firm favourite for uni groups. Take your pick of this little lot...
Diable au Coeur
Best for: a midday mountain pit-stop
On arrival, you’ll be offered soft slippers to save you clomping around in ski boots which is an excellent start. With a great range of rum, beers, cocktails and even cigars, this is the ultimate pit stop. Head out to the heated terrace bar to keep toasty whilst you drink up the exquisite views (and several beers).
Polar Bear Bar
Best for: a traditional log cabin feel
Hit up Polar Bar for an authentic mountain experience complete with a wood-burning fire that dangles from the ceiling. Plonk yourself down on their rustic wooden seating to sip on a Guinness, and eyeball the ski edits playing. Located right in the middle of the town, this is prime place to wind down (or up) for the night.
Best for: rowdy aprés and stunning views
At 2600m, Pano takes altitude clubbing to a whole new level. Daily DJ sets keep the crowd dancing and out on the patio the performers, dancers and sax players will keep you entertained all afternoon. Be warned though, if you’ve downed a few demis, it’s a long ski from this mountain bar back to the resort.
Best for: Sports, fun and games
No trip to L2A is complete without a trip or four to Smiffies. The roomy bar is split over two floors and boasts a sun trapping deck perfect for Easter. The ground floor is dotted with screens and comfy seating areas, perfect for watching the big game. You'll also find a healthy amount of table football (babby-foot tables) to satisfy those with a competitive streak. The ice-axe / nail game is another favourite amongst party people. The Jagerbomb leaderboard is a cruel mistress, known to prematurely end many a night out! It’s not just about partying at Smithys though, the bar is well known for its Tex-Mex banquets. They also have a schedule packed with live bands and DJs to keep you boogying till the wee hours.
Best for: hungover breakfasts
These guys offer a lifesaver for hangovers: a full english served until 2pm. They also have regular fancy dress nights, a micro-brewery and are easy to find being located at the bottom of the Jandri express. There’s live music daily with happy hour from 4pm - 6pm, and the pool and fussball tables present the ideal challenge for a uni crew, with losers paying for the next round of drinks. The food is worth a try with Tex-Mex options, and ribs to die for. Think big portions at a cheap price.
Best for: the sunsets
Ski down to the resort and slide right into Umbrella from the slopes. With live DJs from 5pm every day, the bar guarantees great tunes, and it’s the ideal spot to sink a few at sundown. Be prepared to wait for a drink though, as they’re often short on staff.
La Grotte Du Yeti
Best for: the jacuzzi
If you’ve packed your animal print onsie, this is probably the place to pull it out. Yeti’s themed evenings are legendary. But best of all, is the jacuzzi nestled inside the bar. If you're feet are fronzen after a day on the slopes, hop in to defrost! *Enter at your own risk*
Best for: shots
With 150 shooters and cocktails options including the cheesecake and flaming chicken, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The waiters are super knowledgeable so if you’re dithering between selecting a shot, they’ll gladly help you out.
Best for: the music
With a name like Motown, it’s a given that the music will be good. The homely atmosphere here is complimented by the super smiley staff. Tuck into their Irish coffees or a shot of genepi, and with each drink, you get a portion of tapas! If you’re on a student budget, you can easily fill up after a few rounds.
Best for: partying until the early hours.
Head to Avalanche for disco dancing! At a ripe old age of twenty, this well-loved haunt is open until 5am, and hosts international DJs and live concerts. Beside pulling shapes on the dance floor, you can gyrate on the podiums or shimmy around the dancing poles. Beware staff will insist you put your coat in the cloakrooms, even if you don't want to part with it. The redeeming factor is that when you feel partied out, they offer a free taxi service home. Parfait!
